February 13, 2023 BBI Advisory Board Meeting, Berlin
Firstly, we are deeply saddened by the Kahramanmaraş originated earthquake that affected many of our citizens’ live. Our solidarity and our thoughts go out to the communities struck by this disastrous tragedy and all involved in the search and rescue efforts.
The 9th BBI Advisory Board meeting was organized on 13th of February, in BDI Berlin. The meeting begun by BBI Co-Presidents Cansen Başaran Symes and Stefan Mair’s short introductory notes.
Discussions which were facilitated by Dr. Sinem Adar, Associate Researcher, CATS/SWP and Dr. Hüseyin Gelis, BBI Executive Board President and President & CEO of Siemens Turkey took place in two sessions entitled “Turkey – Germany and Transatlantic Relations | What is next for 2023 In An Era of Geopolitical Turmoil” and “Challenges and Opportunities in Turkey – EU – Germany economic relations for 2023”
Following Soli Özel, Lecturer, Kadir Has University & Advisory Board Member, BBI Dr. Stefan Meister, Head of Program, International Order and Democracy, DGAP and Wolfgang Niedermark, Executive Board Member, BDI impulse speeches, members assessed the topic at hand. Turkey’s Ambassador to Berlin H.E. Ahmet Başar Şen attended the closing session as honorary guest to the meeting.
